This is my installation at the Dirt Palace in honor of the month of February, which has many holidays and customs. Not only is Valentine's Day celebrated, the Days of Love and Friendship, the Red Rain, and Lupercalia are also celebrated in the month of February. I like that February, the deadest month in New England, has so many holidays celebrating love and fertility throughout the world. Kinda makes you smile in the midst of a lot of gray.

This snow was all gone by the afternoon, but at 7:30 am I was in a wintry place. After last year you would think I'd be happy for a mild winter. And I am! But a little snow is nice.

It's a mystery to me why someone shoveled a pathway around this perfect square. Some brave soul dared to walk through it. (UConn's library.)

Horseneck Beach

A very different place than it was in August, full of rocks and a fierce wind, it was still wonderful to feel our very souls swept clean by the Atlantic. This is Miss Paloma ribbon-dancing.

favorite cookbook

Linda's had this cookbook since it was new, and still uses it all the time, though that rubber band is what's keeping it together. Makes me think of a fun photo-series; things we love to death. 

bookbinding workshop!

My fabulous sister agreed to make the trek all the way from Manhattan to the Quiet Corner of CT to teach my advanced photography students how to make an accordion book. With their new knowledge they are going to make books of their photographs. In three hours they made two variations of accordion books, complete with hard covers. No one could believe how much fun it was! Thanks Celine!
